What is 4-H?

A national, non-profit organization for youth 6-21.

Aimed at assisting personal development, the 4-H program teaches skills in the areas of public speaking, leadership, community involvement and general livestock knowledge.

As an educational program, their projects are actually a means to an end in youth development as project work helps to develop skills such as goal setting, record keeping and project management.

4-H helps shape members attitudes, abilities and understanding to better able them to work with others. It develops confidence, pride, loyalty and independence. Each skill, opportunity and award is a new experience that challenges young people to do their personal best.
The goal of the 4-H program is Youth Development, by providing knowledge enhancement, leadership skills, citizenship training and personal development.
